Mexico is famous for its many traditions. It is very important to remember that Mexico is very rich in culture, customs and traditions. Some of the best known traditions are folkloric dances, the day of the death, the day of the virgin of Guadalupe, the 5th of mayo, the 20th of November (the day of the Revolution), the 21st of March (when Benito Juarez was born), also every Monday in every school in Mexico we honor our flag, etc. It is important to remember that all of these holidays vary from state to state; even though they celebrate it on the same day, each state celebrates them differently, giving it its own twist. Except for the honors to the flag, which every state celebrates in the same way. In my presentation I will talk about three holidays that all of us Mexicans celebrate. The first is September 16th (Mexican Independence), the second is Dia de los Santos Reyes, the third is Honoring the Mexican Flag and last but not least May 10th Mother's Day. The first tradition or holiday I want to talk about is September 16th “El Dia de la Independencia de Mexico”. This day is very important for every Mexican because during this day at 12 in the morning el cura Miguel Hidalgo climbed the tower of the church and did el grito de Dolores. I know in class we talk about the importance of this day, but the reason I chose to talk about this day is because that day is the one where all Mexicans come together as one even today. That day we shout “Viva Mexico” at the same time and feel the warmth, passion and pride of being Mexican. As I mentioned before, each state puts its own little twist on each celebration to make it their own. For example in Guadalajara Jalisco, where I come from, we do the famous quermeses, a place where... middle of paper... for mothers, there is tianguis where you can buy flowers, jewellery, perfumes, clothes etc. for your mom. I remember that my grandfather "May he rest in peace" said: "The day of the mothers hasta los perros andan ahuyando, encambio el dia del padre ni los mendigos grilllos se escuchan!" he said this because for us Mexicans that day is an important holiday and is celebrated even more than the others. In conclusion, Mexico is rich in every way. Its people, many traditions, many cultures and many different foods are what makes this country unique. In my case, even though I was born here in this great country, I can say that I am very proud to grow up in Mexico because thanks to this I am who I am today. No matter what country I'm celebrating in, these traditions and holidays make me feel like I've never left, that being said I feel very proud to be Mexican.
