The most obvious obstacle is that some people are disgracefully better than others at communicating, whether due to natural abilities or learned methods. Managers who struggle in this area should learn the necessary skills and then practice them to help minimize this barrier. Factors that will allow a manager to overcome many of these barriers are building trust with colleagues and considering the background of the person you are communicating with, as each person will interpret what they hear and/or see based on their surrounding environment and cultural education. Physical Barriers Physical barriers are barriers related to location, time zones, or technological disruptions. These barriers can be minimized by being aware of where the communication takes place, the time frame and any possible interference that could be caused by the medium used. Semantic barriers Semantic barriers are those that concern the words or language used in the communication process. As managers, this type of obstacle can be overcome by composing our message in such a way that the recipient completely understands what we are trying to convey in specific terms. Alternative cultures may have different meanings not only for words, but also for gestures. Jargon can also be problematic and should be avoided in most situations. As managers, being mindful of our choice of words will avoid misinterpretations of our intentions
