Very often clients leave feeling that their rights have been violated by their counselors or therapists. This discrepancy is partly attributed to managed care organizations' failure to provide employees with good information about proper ethical practices. Recent surveys state that most consultants believe that managed care is having a negative impact on the profession (e.g., Daniels, Alva, & Olivares, 2000; Phelps, Eisman, & Kohout, 1998) and that the negative evaluation of managed care stems from often from ethical reasons. dilemmas (Phelps et al., 1998). Daniels (2001) interviewed directors of graduate programs in counseling, clinical psychology, and social work about their experiences training for managed care settings and found that respondents strongly agreed with the statement “Managed care is having a great impact on the helping professions".,
