Labor and Delivery Nursing A labor and delivery nurse has extensive knowledge of the process and methods needed to give birth and bring a new life into the world and is educated with the responsibilities to assist new born babies with their medical problems. Considering all the responsibilities necessary to undertake this career, such as assisting women with complications during pregnancy, delivering a newborn and managing postpartum problems, the nurse must always be professional in her work. All people who wish to pursue a career as a labor and delivery nurse must also have good analytical skills, as part of the work of monitoring and analyzing the mother and baby (CollegeAtlas.org). The nursing field is always constantly growing, with people wanting to pursue careers of bringing new life into the world. To start this career people need to have some education to know the job and how to do it. Starting early is always a great thing to keep in mind when thinking about the future. Author Kate Prudchenko says, "High school students can prepare for these programs by taking basic science courses such as chemistry and biology, or they may be able to begin associate degree courses while completing their high school diploma." Studying chemistry can help the student learn to balance equations, understand exactly how to handle chemicals in the laboratory, and understand how they work. Studying biology in high school can help students become accustomed to analyzing prenatal development and reproductive systems or can also introduce laboratory activities. Labor and delivery nursing is a great career to pursue. Career comes with a lot of knowledge, but with time and patience anyone can pursue it. This job also comes with a lot of responsibility and requires a lot of patience, but bringing new life into the world can bring so much joy to life than anyone could ever imagine.
