Mott and Stanton were not allowed to speak and “The friends present were almost all against the admission of women. We were told… that our coming had been announced at the London Yearly Meeting, and that they had been warned against us” (Casey, Paula P1). Mott and Stanton were outraged and returned home to start the Seneca Falls Convention. The Falls convention held six sessions with a wide variety of topics. Among the discussions on the role of women there were presentations on the law and some presentations for entertainment. Of the 300 people in attendance, 60 were men because it was considered highly improper for a woman to lead a “promiscuous” gathering” (Casey, Paula P2). Mott and Stanton also talked about the role of women and read the statement of feelings. The declaration of sentiments declared that women and men are equal. it declared sentiments that showed all the rights that women are and should press to be equal. Each statement was debated and they voted for each side, sparking debates over women's right to vote, with many people voting to remove it from the statement. Approval was obtained by a small majority
