If the health education system in schools taught adolescents that sexual activity at a young age is unsafe, the population of pregnant adolescents would have decreased dramatically. Health education has not been taken seriously by adolescents currently attending both middle and high school. Since teenagers have not taken health education seriously, the country has seen a sharp increase in the rate of teenage pregnancies. Teenagers had children at an early age. Usually between the ages of thirteen and sixteen the pregnancy rates are added up each year. Fifty percent of pregnancies occur within six months of first sexual intercourse, regardless of contraceptive use, and twenty percent of pregnancies occur in the first month, nearly half a million adolescents. girls give birth every year. (Teen 1997) These are female adolescents who had sexual intercourse between 1991 and 2009. Only a few of the large percentage did not use protection during sexual intercourse. (Pazol, 2011) The average of females who have unprotected sexual intercourse is 15.23. The standard deviation for women having unprotected sex is 1.822117. The graph shows how women have had more unprotected sex over the years. This will cause the mean and standard deviation to change over the years. These are male adolescents who had sexual intercourse between the years 1991 and 2009. Only a few of the large percentage did not use protection. Compared to women, men have used protection more than adolescents over the years. (Pazol, 2011) The graph above shows how many male adolescents have unprotected sex. The average for males having unprotected sex is 12.53. The standard deviation for male adolescents having unprotected sex is 2.116102. The number of unprotected sexual intercourse among males is jumping from one number to another. Comparing the male and female average, it emerges that between 1991 and 2009 more females than males had unprotected sexual intercourse. Texas' pregnant population has increased dramatically over the years. Parents blamed both public education in schools and the type of students their children hang out with after classes end. Parents worry about their children and demand more rigorous education in most cities. Since 1992, Texas has seen an overall decline of 24 percent in the pregnancy rate among women ages 15 to 19. By 2040, approximately 10% of the 51.7 million people expected to have children living in Texas will be teenage and young adult women.
