is an almost word-for-word repetition of what the wisdom woman said in verse 25, that they would not listen to her wisdom, despising her reproof. The second part of the verse is the one in which it is different: "They will eat the fruit of their ways and be satisfied with their initiatives" (v. 30b). Christine Yoder states, “His use of the image of eating and being satiated by the fruit of one's own dispositions and plans conveys an act-consequence worldview. That is, a person experiences the effect of his own actions and choices. They reap what they sow." In this case, female wisdom is simply saying that the audience will get what they choose for their lives. Because they have not chosen to fear the Lord, they will not be able to rely on Him when they need Him. It can also be inferred that perhaps being filled with their ways and eating their fruits will just be a life as verse 26 says, a life full of calamity, heartache and stress. Verses 25-26 and verses 29-30 are closely related thematically. Verse 32 is their final destiny. This is what will happen to those who do not change their ways and fear the Lord. They will eventually die after suffering all their lives. “32 For obstinacy kills the simple, the complacency of fools destroys them;” (Proverbs 1:32, NRSV). “His words contain an echo of the thematic verse in which he describes their reckless lifestyle: 'They hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord'” (v.29).
