Not only that, but according to Donyall Dickey, principal of Murray Hill Middle School, “if students don't acquire things in class, they will acquire them through homework” (Johnson). As we can see, homework helps us and prepares us for higher school levels while we are in primary school, which can eventually prepare us for university. It also helps us remember the materials taught in class. Another reason why homework can be useful is that it can prepare us for the tests and terrible quizzes that a teacher can randomly give us. This fact was demonstrated, according to a 2006 study by Harris Cooper, director of the Duke University Education Program, in the article “Homework or Not? This is the (research) question.” Studies have established that “students who had homework performed better on in-class tests than those who did not” (DeNisco).
