1.0 Introduction The phenomenon of continuing professional education has been recognized globally by all professionals as the primary method for regularly supplementing basic professional education. In the 21st century, scientific discoveries, technological advances and increasing demands from society have influenced the need for continuing education for professionals. So, to keep the practice relevant and future-oriented, practitioners must keep up to date with current trends and issues so as not to practice outdated practices that have been emphasized as ineffective. According to Chong. M. C et al (2008)., continuing professional education in healthcare disciplines is accepted as an essential part of professional practice due to the rapid change in the structure and culture of the healthcare sector. Furthermore, for the nursing profession to meet professionalism, increased skills, higher education and lifelong learning are needed. The knowledge gained through basic vocational education has a half-life of approximately 2 years and at the end of that period, if the knowledge gained from basic vocational education will become outdated or obsolete. Basic practice training becomes obsolete within 5 years of graduation, and obsolescence can cause nurses to perform poorly and lead to client disability, continued illness, and even client death. Therefore, nurses need to continuously update their knowledge and skills. According to the other statement by James P. Nurses must be trained to a higher level to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills that will allow them to practice their profession in an innovative, creative and autonomous way. Nurses should acquire more knowledge to update and improve themselves and never stop learning because the more we acquire more knowledge the more people will respect us.
