Topic > The history of food and nutrition - 1183

Early in the history of food and nutrition, people followed the saying: "Eat to live". With the changing times, trends and food nutrition, the aforementioned saying has evidently changed to “Live to eat”. Before, the balance between the four essential portions of food was stable: 30% vegetables (2 ½ cups), 20% fruit (2 cups), 25% healthy proteins (5 ½ cups), 25% grains ( 6 ounces) and 3 cups of dairy products (Grasa and Christine). Nowadays, the plate has become lopsided in one direction, changing sides from one to the other, giving importance to the preference that is comfortable for an individual at a time or period. So the plate is never stable. There is a higher percentage in the sympathetic portion of an individual, which translates to a lower percentage in the other portions. This produces an overall unhealthy lifestyle or habit for people today. According to nutrition statistics from the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition, “typical American diets exceed the categories: calories from solid fats and added sugars; refined grains, sodium; and saturated fats. Americans eat less than the recommended amount of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, dairy products and oils.” More and more people are procrastinating on the thought of eating healthy or completely ignoring it in their lifestyle. More people should adapt to having a nutritional lifestyle due to the nutritional benefits of preventing disease, increasing energy levels and improving our lives. Many diseases can be prevented if people change their lifestyle towards nutrition. Protein-energy malnutrition, obesity and diabetes are just a few of the many diseases to mention. Protein-energy malnutrition, according to the World Health Organization, is "the cellular imbalance that occurs... middle of paper... weeks of intense exercise, then the work done to lose weight can backfire again weight gain. The nutrition factor in our lives gives us motivation to live our lives with healthy choices and we should do so. Nutrition is here to help us live a better life, just as teachers are there to help children gain knowledge in schools. Nutrition has many benefits that can motivate, help and lead life on the healthier path. Some benefits are: prevention of diseases, energy boosting and improvement of life in general. Nutrition has been here for centuries Some abuse it, others take advantage of it. Nutrition is an option and a resource that can be to your advantage if you want it. Even an unhealthy lifestyle is an option that can give you food pleasures, but don't count on it “healthy” for you. So, which option are you choosing??
