Philosophical ethics differs from legal, cultural, religious ethics and personal approaches to ethics by seeking to conduct the study of morality through rationality: these are things that are done according to reasons or logic, therefore things are done according to the logic and morality of the person or the society of which the person is part. Locke and Hobbes also argued that moral requirements are based on standards of rationality. It talks about how one should act and what is the right course of action in a given situation. Even in the past, philosophy was identified with things that were not of this world (metaphysics). Metaphysics studies the nature of ultimate reality and the personal mind, so essentially it is what a person may deem right and moral based on the society they live in, religion is very important in many societies and society is run based on principles and morals of that religion. So, in this light, religion would be consistent with philosophy.
