In the 1920s, the American Dream was very different than what we believe it to be today. Even though it is changing, the American dream is also fading and people are achieving their dreams. The American Dream represents the traditional social ideals of the United States, and many people's lives revolve around trying to achieve what they perceive as this dream. “Childhood was better when I was a child.” Being a teenager this statement is used a lot in my life by grandparents and parents. The American Dream originated in the early days of settlement. Immigrants to the United States were looking for opportunities that were inevitable in their own country. After the country grew and people settled into their classrooms, the American dream changed. “Instead of fighting for equality, they just wanted to get as rich as they could” is a good way to describe the way they behaved in the 1920s.
