Eleanor not only helped imagine the future, she also secured the future of many people. She greatly influenced the construction of New Deal programs, which focused on "women's rights, civil rights, workers, and youth programs" ("Eleanor Roosevelt: The World's First Lady"). In 1945, she continued her career by joining the United States delegate to the United Nations and became head of the Human Rights Committee ("Eleanor Roosevelt: The World's First Lady"). She was born into a prominent family and, contrary to what her family wanted her to do, became an activist for social reform. To imagine the future, a leader must imagine the possibilities and find common purpose. For Eleanor there weren't many options but there was definitely a common purpose. She helped bring about and was apart of many reforms such as women's suffrage which was ratified in 1920. Through this achievement we can see Eleanor's ability to lead and help bring about a very important goal
