Poland had lost over 20% of its population. The Polish Home Army changed the way of the Polish economy. Once Poland had large amounts of money, Stalin would take it and they would go into debt again. All the efforts of the Poles not to surrender motivated Poland in the future to stand for elections and reconquer Poland. Over 50 years after the war Lech Walesa managed to rebuild Poland. Poland never gave up on its homeland. Throughout the war they had never surrendered and remained loyal to Poland and its allies. Although, after and during the war, Poland was betrayed by its allies. Poland managed to regain the land and have its home again. People managed to find work and also build their own economy, whereas when they were under Stalin's rule they were still trying to regain their freedom. The sacrifice of the national army and the underground movement will always be remembered for their actions to protect their people and homeland. If Poland had never decided to create an underground resistance movement to protect the Jews, many of its citizens would have been taken. The Poles wanted to help their country in every possible way, and they did so by resisting Hitler's actions for a long time
