Two main types of compression techniques used are: o Crashing: In this we include additional resources and infrastructure to support the task and complete it at a faster pace. Thus, reducing the time required for this activity. o Fast Tracking: According to this, we try to carry out activities in parallel even if they depend on each other. This could sometimes impact the quality aspect of tasks as things are done in parallel when they should be done sequentially based on the dependency. We have used both the Crashing and Fast Tracking concepts in our Option 1 and Option 2 recommendations for the project on the previous pages. Many of the limitations mentioned in the critical path method, particularly related to resources, can be handled well with the other techniques mentioned here. While all these project planning techniques are very useful and present all the data in a very presentable format for the project manager and other stakeholders, it is crucial that these are combined with the other project management techniques to make it a success
