The wildly popular dark comedy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, showcases the similarities and some differences between twin characters, Dee and Dennis Reynolds, in many of its funniest episodes. In the show, Dee (often referred to as "Sweet" Dee) and Dennis have a rather unconventional brother-sister relationship. In their group of friends who are also colleagues, Dennis is seen as a leader and superior to others, while Dee is seen at the bottom of the pack in the "Gang" and is often ridiculed. Although Dennis and Dee have a fierce sibling rivalry in many episodes, they are much more alike than they would presumably like to admit. One of the first episodes of the series showing the similarities between Dennis and Dee is, "Underage Drinking: A National Concern." In this episode Paddy's Pub, the bar where "the gang" works, is filled with high school students, because word has gotten out that they don't check IDs. Both Dennis and Dee find themselves interested in some of these underage partygoers. It seems they are both trying to relive their high school days. Dee had scoliosis in high school, so get out with this popular jock he seems to mask the unpopularity of his past. Dennis also seems to have a boost in his ego when he is seen with the popular girl. Eventually both Dennis and Dee are invited to the prom by their new friends All'. last minute before the dance they both get dumped from their dates so they can go together because they once dated and decided to reconcile the twins' plan to be popular among the coolkids for the last time gets sabotaged at the last minute before of the final glory of the prom. They were both me... middle of paper... we always try to make it very clear to others and even to themselves that I am not their mother, or that I am not their sister, but some similarities are undeniable. Daughters will always share some traits with their mothers. Siblings, especially twins, share more than just parents. There are some things people have to learn to accept in life, and similarities between close relatives can be difficult to recognize. Each person is a unique individual, but parallels between families are bound to happen, for better or worse. Works Cited “Dennis and Dee Go On Welfare.” It's always sunny in Philadelphia. FX.
