How is it that the smallest antibody, the smallest cramp, the smallest mutation, can cause such profound effects in this sentient mass of cells we call the human body? My curiosity drives me to seek answers to these questions. Even though the path to becoming a doctor is very challenging, I know it is where I belong. I had to go on this journey and I had to fall in love with medicine. I feel so lucky to know where I need to be and to be able to pursue a calling that I was lucky enough to fall in love with. Unfortunately, in the last two years, the death of two of my close relatives due to cancer and a car accident, caused my debacle. Since I was in boarding school, I felt a sense of guilt when I lost my grandfather to cancer. The next year I returned home, only to witness the loss of my cousin. Both of these tragedies took a toll on me. I was derailed and unfocused. It took me a long time to get back on track. Today, however, I am strong and independent, ready for whatever life throws at me. I believe my family members could have been saved. It was the lack of medical care that caused their deaths. It's not just my family, many cities and towns in India lack advanced medical technology and manpower. This is a driving factor for me. I want to work for the improvement of areas like these around the world. In the last two years I have deepened my knowledge of the world of doctors, working alongside a pediatrician, a dermatologist, a gynecologist and a neurosurgeon. Through these enlightening experiences, I learned that a doctor's communication skills are not only useful for effectively cooperating with colleagues, but also for alleviating patients' distress. I concluded that an effective doctor takes care of their patients and addresses all of a patient's concerns. Please note: this is just an example. Get a custom paper from our expert writers now.
