Topic > Overview of Frank Lloyd Wright's Architecture

I chose to talk about Wright in particular because I believe his architectural style and design was very unique and interesting to see. Having graduated in Civil Engineering, I am fascinated by how much the structure of a building has changed over time. Furthermore, I like to deepen my knowledge on the different types of materials used to construct buildings. Wright was known for transforming the way architecture built houses. He was the first to introduce the “Prairie Style” and the “Usonian” into American society. Wright's way of designing and designing homes has influenced me personally because I want my future home to be built using the Prairie style because it gives a unique and modern look to the building. The two buildings that really caught my attention were “The Circle Gallery” and “Della Walker House”, both designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Say no to plagiarism. This beautiful building consists of an arched portal at the entrance. The exterior of the building is constructed of bricks which gives the building a strong and sturdy appearance. The interior of the building, however, is made up of ramps and skylights. The ramp is made in an interesting way, the ramp gradually goes in a circle around the entire tunnel. Skylights, on the other hand, are also known as “suspended glass bubble ceilings,” which give the gallery a truly unique look. This building reflects my experience of the California Bay Area because it is a small portion of Wright's artwork, just as the Bay Area itself is a small portion of California. But both the gallery and the Bay Area itself have much to offer. The gallery looks very simple from the outside, but the interior has a very refined modern look. This gallery is very aesthetic for me because the interior of the building is very pleasing to the eye. Soft lighting gives the gallery a peaceful feel. Finally, it is rare to have a circular tunnel that starts from the ground floor but also continues underground. He made sure to make full use of all the space available to him. The second element is the Della Walker House, designed by Wright in 1951. This house is located in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. The house is a beautiful beach house that has a triangular foundation covered with the famous Carmel stones, which help the building blend into its surroundings. The home also includes many windows that help capture the beautiful beach views. The interior of the house includes a touch of wood on both the ceiling and the floor of the house. The interior of the house also included a fireplace, a small kitchen and a hexagonal-shaped element. This building reflects the Californian lifestyle because Californians are known to spend their free time at the beach on hot and sunny days. This home truly offers a beach feel due to its location and surroundings. This house is very aesthetically appealing in my opinion because it is very beautiful both from the inside and the outside. One thing that really sparked interest in this house was its location. Since the house is facing the beach, the entrance of the house is towards the secondary road. The house also included a stone sculpture located at the front of the house, which was interesting to me because I had never seen a sculpture of that shape. I have always dreamed of owning a house located on the beach. There were many similarities and differences between the two buildings. The difference I noticed between the two buildings was; the foundation structure, i.
