We currently live in a society where people provide inaccurate information just to manipulate others. If we take a look at the contemporary world we live in, it is clear that inappropriate speech acts such as manipulation, defamation and negligence still exist. All these malicious acts just represent the kind of mentality this society has. Furthermore, it is frustrating to know that irrelevant opinions, notions and perspectives coming from a known individual are often heard rather than the voice of those with factual information. Because of this, it is evident that most of us would certainly have less chance of knowing the truth. Therefore, as an individual it is our right to be informed about the significant issues that govern our society for the betterment of the community. Therefore every citizen has the right to express their opinion in an educated manner. Thanks to the power and freedom we are given, we are able to speak and express ourselves even more freely. However, because we live in an advantageous society, manipulation, defamation and prejudice have never been inevitable. This is why everyone should know how to disseminate various information in order to correctly recognize the data. To further elaborate my statement, there are two types of people who provide information to the public and these are journalists and bloggers. Journalists are people who write and prepare news which is then broadcast in newspapers, radio and television. Being a journalist means having a degree in journalism or pursuing a degree in mass communication or any course related to it. A journalist has learned not only to write a firm position, but also learned how to correctly execute the strategic technique of reliably collecting and verifying the significant accumulated information in order to obtain clear, truthful and impartial data. They also comply with the Code of Ethics applicable to journalists. On the other hand, bloggers are the people who produce content that usually contains opinions and comments on a particular topic. From that point, we can now distinguish the difference between the two. Journalists are a much more reliable source of information than bloggers. It's simply because journalists have a journalism degree while most bloggers don't. In this regard, it is evident that journalists are a very reliable and credible source as they provide fact-based information to the public. Furthermore, if you asked me whether bloggers should be treated the same as journalists, I would definitely say NO. Journalists are also much more different from bloggers in terms of information reliability, legitimacy and credibility. They should be classified according to where they really belong. From my point of view, it is quite unfair that journalists are equated with bloggers because bloggers have not studied the principles of journalism nor do they have a degree in that particular field. Journalists have the right and reputation to provide information because they have inexorably worked their way up just to be included in that industry and be called “journalists.” I'm not saying that all bloggers are bad.
