This is one of the reasons why the book is so famous and significant, even twenty years after its first publication. While reading I noticed that I felt frustrated, but also triumphant at having made it this far into the book. The book takes you on the journey of Christopher McCandless, and at some moments I could feel the cool, dry Alaskan air or the warm Mojave air. Finishing the book was like leaving a beautiful journey. I was born in California and had the opportunity to move back a few years ago. I left with a feeling of ease, knowing that I could finally give truth to the images I had created in my head from the foggy memories of a small child.
