Topic > Is animal testing inhumane? - 903

The only problem is that scientists refuse to take advantage of it because they believe that animal research is more reliable. According to Clarence Little, a leading animal cancer experimenter, “many other important medical advances have been delayed due to misleading information derived from animal models (Miller 138). The new technology known as Epiderm and Episkin, can mimic human skin cells and human skin structure (ANNA). Researchers can now test these alternative methods instead of on the skin of live rabbits. Another alternative option to animal testing is called EpiOcular. EpiOcular is used to form an almost exact replica of the human cornea. This method has the opportunity to end the rabbit eye irritation test closely resembling the way a real eye reacts to harmful substances. All of these tests have proven to be useful and reliable alternatives to testing products on live animals. Therefore, since effective means are available to test product toxicity without the use of live animal samples, it is advisable to test potentially deadly substances on animals.
