As a Risk Manager of a medium-sized Trauma II facility, simplicity is imperative and necessary to manage the many responsibilities and tasks required by administration, company policies, government rules and regulations, and the ability to provide patient care of high quality and improve patient safety initiatives. It has been an ongoing cultural shift to simplify the functioning of my organization, but with the continued encouragement, autonomy, cooperation and support provided to department directors and managers, simplicity will result in a more successful and less complicated organizational environment ( Janney, 2014 ).
