In America, freedom of religion is one of the most fundamental and valued human rights. This is unfortunately a rare trait in the world we see today. Allowing citizens to legally practice the religion of their ancestors and their personal beliefs is something that contributes strongly to almost every aspect of happiness. Forcing people to worship in private, in fear of being condemned for their faith, adds unimaginable stress and retaliation. Considering a war-torn country like Iraq or Saudi Arabia, this problem is further recognized. How can a government expect and demand citizens to risk and sacrifice their lives for their country if their religion is not even recognized? Imagine a foreign soldier on the front lines, fighting for his country. Now imagine that the soldier has been wounded and is dying or fears for his life amid the horrors of war. The soldier faces the reality of death and is forbidden to pray to his God. He is forbidden to defend the future of his soul, by the very country he is working his life to defend. This is a shockingly clear example of how much the leaders and governments of our world are capable of influencing our hearts
