Both sought to prevent blacks from achieving the same things as whites because we are considered beneath them. The original "Jim Crow Laws" were actually legal at the time and justified in one way, I guess, because it was legal but it wasn't fair at all. The “New Jim Crow Laws” are not really legal or illegal, they are just a way to keep the original laws from no longer being allowed. These are the things the government invented to limit what we can and cannot do. Both are forms of oppression and affect not only blacks but other minorities as well. I feel like they see us as a threat when in reality we all want the same thing. African Americans have been targeted for many years trying to keep us from becoming something. A caste system is always on the verge of racially discriminating against blacks in some way. African Americans have been exploited by the criminal justice system like no other group in America, but this has been the case for many years, but I feel it is wrong not to mention other groups going through the same problem, such as Latinos. America is set up where no one except white people is supposed to make it and if you are lucky enough to make it you are still controlled by white people because they have the real power.
