Joan of Arc was born on January 6, 1412 in the French village of Domremy, loyal to France during the Hundred Years' War. His parents Jacques d'Arc and Isabelle owned approximately 50 acres of land. He was also a minor village official who collected taxes. The Hundred Years' War was a battle between England and France for the throne of France. The war began in 1337 when King Philip VI of France attempted to conquer English territories in the Duchy of Aquitaine in southwestern France.
