Exposure to dioxin from Agent Orange has caused health damage to our veterans who fought in Vietnam. The Aspen Institute reports (as cited in the US Institute of Medicine report, 2009) that there is “sufficient evidence of association between Agent Orange/dioxin exposure and five diseases: soft tissue sarcoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, leukemia chronic lymphocytic disease (including hairy cell leukemia), Hodgkin's disease and chloracne. (pg.1) I was amazed that something so volatile was allowed in something that children would wear almost every moment of their lives until they were potty trained. Incredibly, dioxin is not the only substance used to make disposable diapers with a well-documented history of negative impacts on humans.
