The play Macbeth is set in Scotland, where the Scots are at war with the Norwegians, and the battle has just been won and the thane or Cawdor as he has just been found guilty of treason. The landscape is mountainous and gray and the climate is always cold and miserable. The supernatural is always associated with storms, lightning, etc. Were they thought to invoke the forces of evil? This causes Lady Macbeth speed up his plot. Lady Macbeth's speech is very interesting and creates a lot of tension in the audience.
