Topic > Essay on Police Corruption - 1968

Not much has been said about the domestic lives of the offenders in these cases, but it is important to understand the possible pressures these men might have faced. First, most police officers don't make a lot of money, which brings enormous pressure. They may find that it is difficult to financially support themselves as well as the needs of their families. Some may have families who live beyond their means and find it difficult to sustain that lifestyle. Others may find it difficult to perform police work under high levels of stress, as any job might have, and often become dissatisfied not only with their job, but also with leadership. This in turn causes a problem because then there are ungrateful employees who don't care as much about the duties of their job. The main point in discussing pressures is that if employees are otherwise dissatisfied due to external stressors, it is a major warning sign for them to commit types of stress.
