The Citizen Scientist Project is a local project of the Key Biscayne Community Foundation, a non-profit organization. Through the project I was able to experience first-hand how contributing locally to a cause can create a ripple effect and contribute to the greater good for the entire planet. The Citizen Scientist project aims to educate local people about the environment around them, so they can be aware of the problems plaguing our home. I've learned that educating people about problems works better than discussing them. Education is the core of understanding anything in life, and in this case it definitely helps people realize the environmental dangers that pose a threat to society. We enlighten the community by providing citizen science lessons and providing community challenges, challenges that require participants to observe the local environment. People have started to notice the trash lining the beaches or the excessive amount of non-native species. The aim of this project is to make people think about these environmental problems and act accordingly. I realized that local projects like the Citizen Scientist Project could be started in countries like Haiti, in order to educate people about the land around them. Thanks to my United Nations Millennium Development Goal I was able to do this
