In this series, Jake the dog and Finn the human have numerous adventures. Finn may not be evil, but he is realistically portrayed as a normal human being. He has his flaws, most notably the fact that he often acts like an idiot, especially towards the series' main villain, Ice King. While Ice King's decisions are certainly questionable, his intentions are entirely innocent. Finn, however, is clearly an idiot towards Ice King. However misguided, Ice King is never unreasonably evil. Yet Finn still harasses and hurts Ice King. The Ice King is truly a sad character; the Adventure Time Wikia page describes him as "simply an annoyance" and "misunderstood". The Ice King even "expresses an ongoing zeal to spend time with anyone who tolerates his company." It closely reflects the stereotype of the “innocent but unlikable” character, both in life and in fiction. Yet the Ice King is one of, if not the most unlikeable characters in the series. Finn essentially gets the protection of having the title of "good guy" and being the protagonist to do and say whatever he wants to the Ice King. No matter what Finn does or says, he will always be seen as a good guy, whether his actions reflect that idea or not. Although the way he mistreated the Ice King is most likely a game of irony on the part of the creators, this is unlikely to happen.
