Topic > Vaccines: Calling The Shots - 709

I attended the IPE Film and Book Experience on Thursday, July 18, 2016 and we watched a NOVA PBS documentary titled "Vaccines: Calling the Shots." My team members and the university/profession they represent are listed below:1. Nkeseobong Essien a Pharm.D. candidate representing the College of Pharmacy2. Paige Allen, a Nuclear Medicine student, represented the College of Health Professions3. Cord Carter, a Pharmaceutical Sciences student, represented the Graduate School4. Marlee Buchanan, pharmaceutical doctor. the candidate represented the College of Pharmacy5. Danviona King a Pharm.D. the candidate also represented the College of Pharmacy6. Eva S. was also studying Nuclear Medicine and represented the College of Health Care Professionals. The team members I saw at work in this documentary were researchers, immunologists, neurologists, genetic counselors, and some healthcare professionals such as a pediatrician and nurses. Team members who could have been involved or have been involved behind the scenes include pharmacists and public health administrators. By watching the documentary and listening to Brad Brigg discuss vaccination in Arkansas, as a future pharmacist, I have a role to play in my community. I can recommend vaccinations to patients who see my pharmacist who are immunocompromised or who may have people living with them who are. Additionally, increased education about vaccinations will make me better equipped to create awareness about the importance of vaccinations and to be able to answer any questions my patients may have so they can make informed decisions about vaccinations to protect themselves and members of the community. their community. families. I learned that other healthcare professionals also have a good... middle of the paper ......because it gave me the opportunity to hear the perspectives of other healthcare professionals who are not in the same field as me. I also learned what role each health worker could contribute to the Triple Aim goal. Additionally, this experience would make it easier for me to work with other professionals during my course of study and after graduation because I had a little exposure to what it will be like to discuss and try to understand how we can contribute to the goal of the Triple Aim together as a team. To improve this activity, I would suggest doing more hands-on activities or spending more time on team discussions. Also, involving some other universities such as medical school. The medical students will also be an important resource for the team as it would be great to get some information and see their point of view on the issues addressed.
