I went on a mission to China and visited/helped people with fragile bones. They weren't sad, lonely or feeling disabled. It was part of their lifestyle and they didn't know any difference. Even though we felt sympathy for them, they were very content and happy. What questions do I have? How can I approach someone with a disability without seeming rude or judgmental? What do I say when I accidentally use the wrong term? Rate my knowledge: Rate your knowledge before reading using this scale: I don't seem to know anything about this topic. I've heard some terms, but I couldn't tell you what they mean. I'm pretty comfortable with the key concepts, but I want to learn more. I know all about this and could teach this section.2. I would like to know more and have a little knowledge of the key concepts of special education. As I read, here are my thoughts: Main Topic – You will find information about the main topic in the textbook or listed materials. Key Takeaways – In this column, add your thoughts. It is not necessary to cite sources as long as you use the sources provided in the course. Disability: what does this term mean and how should it be used? “Disability is the inability to do something, an impaired ability to perform in a specific way." The second video includes information that was not mentioned in chapter one, such as the challenges of finding the special education program right and that you need to research to know the options available to you. After reading this, here are my thoughts: What questions do I still have? Do you have any other information I would like to include/remember from reading this chapter? Special education is not just for people with disabilities but also for those who have difficulties in the average learning environment. Furthermore, some parents or guardians are not eager to ask for help or do not want to consider special education for their children because they think that their child. whether “perfect”, “normal” or good. It is our job as educators to inform parents that it is not a question of scholarship for their children to receive additional help to improve their studies.
