The Zodiac Killer The late 1960s and early 1970s were a time of great change in America. The Vietnam War, the civil rights movement, and the sexual revolution were just a few of the topics that hit the evening news in American homes. For citizens of the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as the rest of California, the late 1960s and early 1970s represented terror, fear, and death. “The bizarre, theatrical and still unsolved serial murders by a real-life demon who called himself Zodiac, who claimed in letters to have killed 37 people (although police focused on five murders and two attempted murders in the great Bay Area in 1968 and 1969" (Booth,2) have intrigued people for nearly four decades. The man asked the boys to get out of the car, but they refused. After hearing David and Betty's refusal, the man pulled out a gun and fired a shot at the right rear window, shattering it. Then he moved to the front and fired another into the left tire. Panicked, the young people rushed out... middle of the paper... from the Newspaper Source database. Graysmith, R. (2002).
