Topic > The Growing Popularity of Hunting - 845

HuntingHunting has rapidly become more popular in recent years. According to the US Fish and Wildlife Services, the population of hunters has grown by 9% since 2011 (“Press Release”), but so has the population of discriminators. More and more people have come to the conclusion that hunting is inhumane and is sometimes known as slaughter ("Access Brazosport College Library Research Database"). Hunting is not inhumane or against any rules. Humans have been hunting since our earliest existence; it is a fundamental part of our nature. People think that hunters are predators and that we kill animals only to kill them and leave them there to rot. Hunters are considered predators, but we don't do it just to kill, we do it primarily because wild game meat is healthier ("Access the Brazosport College Library Research Database"). Wild game is one of the most common meats and, for the most part, healthier and more delicious than meat from farm-raised animals, such as cow, pig and sheep. As many know, wild game, primarily deer, elk, etc., are very active, making their meat less fatty than farm-raised game. They eat naturally grown food, which is healthier than wheat and corn, which is what farm-raised animals eat. While grains and corn are largely healthy, they are high in fats that make up animal fat ("game meat"). Additionally, farm-raised animals are known to be among the laziest animals, due to the amount of fat they eat. Wild game have miles and miles of pastures, sometimes mountainous, that they roam every day. This means they eliminate most of the fat they gain from eating corn given by hunters, in addition to the healthy plants they eat when they have no corn to feed on. If hunting were banned, as they want it to be, animals will die faster and in greater numbers, instead of hunting them and maintaining normal populations.
