Therefore, employees who don't have two cents to spend on Thanksgiving do not enjoy or encourage the frenzied luxury spending done by other consumers on Black Friday. Employees like those at Wal‒Mart have no choice but to work on Black Friday to earn extra money just to make ends meet while simultaneously watching hundreds of shoppers come into their store and wasting more paychecks on cash. Malveaux goes on to state that “According to the CEO of Wal‒Mart, at least half of its employees earn less than $25,000 a year, which is not enough to live in a city” (Malveaux). This quote from Malveaux confirms the idea that Black Friday is only for businesses and consumers. Employees are simply the vehicle to make Black Friday happen. A common Friday concern is safety, with parents wondering whether their children should be out so early in such dangerous crowds. My solution: Don't shop at Wal-Mart! Of all the complaints filed on Black Friday, more than half involve Wal-Mart customers or staff
