Engineering is what I found that went from being a foreign concept to me to something that became an integral part of my life, of my existence. I can't imagine my future not being related to engineering because it has become something that defines me. Even though I have found my need, something I am willing to grasp with all my power, many other people my age have not found theirs. Dillard is saying that we should be like a weasel and find something that matters to us, and hold it dear, and that's my thoughts on that too. As humans we have distanced ourselves from nature, building big cities that surround us with so much noise that we get lost. We should take a step back, return to nature and instinct, to move forward. It brings back the instinct to make a decision, to take a fork in the road, to move forward and live as we should live. Finding our purpose in life and holding on to that need so that it becomes such an integral part of our being that, even in death, it is still a part of us. Annie Dillard's essay, "Living Like Weasels," provides an interesting insight into how humans should be more like weasels. Weasels are creatures free from all the desires and desires of humanity, focusing only on one need. We should learn to live more like weasels, to find our sole purpose in life and live for it, letting it consume our very being..
