According to Ura, K (September 2015) states that in the year 2012, the top five borrowers leading to outflow of maximum rupee from the country are Royal Thimphu College, Lakhi, Druk Iron and Steel, Royal Insurances Corporation of Bhutan, Dungsum Cement Project and Tashi Corporation. The country's indebtedness leads to a further increase in the trade deficit, where Bhutan currently does not have the capacity to balance its trade with the growing number of major hydropower and small-scale construction projects.
